Govt equity in Lucara?

Govt equity in Lucara?
We’ve not heard any more about this since the idea was floated by the President last year, but there was an interesting report this week that does touch upon it.

“Government’s mining investment agency, the Minerals Development Company Botswana is still weighing whether the state should approach Lucara for an equity stake.
By law, government is entitled to purchase up to 15% equity, but Minerals minister, Lefoko Moagi recently told Mmegi the state’s focus was on finalising its negotiations with De Beers for a new sales agreement.”

Assuming that the govt can focus on more than one thing at a time, it seems to me to suggest that the Lucara equity purchase somehow depends upon the De Beers sales agreement outcome. The sales agreement is said to be due for finalising next month.

Maybe a few things in our future hinge upon this agreement?
