Canopy's overall performance and potentialThose of us are long timer longs and kept defending Canopy for anything and everything, I guess it's time for us to see actually, as to what's going on with Canopy; and to reassess as to whether there is a real potential down the road or we are just kicking the cans down the road.
Often think they will do something miracle, just a matter of time but no luck. Every now and then, when critical time comes, they behave like everyone else, their revenue is like everyone else, their bottom line is like everyone else. When it's time to release exciting products, they fall behind, the tell us delay is for perfection. They reduce the capacity, lay off employees like others and tell us, they are doing right-sizing (a fancy words to hide the actual reasons).
The drinks guys (i.e., Constellation) is with them, yet in two years they could not come up with the drinks on time, if cans don't work, use freaaaking bottles, you have a bottling factory, don't you?
Sometimes, it feels like the difference between Canopy and others are the $5b lottery winning. If you win a lottery, first thing you buy a few fancy cars, buy luxury homes and go world-wide tours, etc. Canopy acquired whole bunch of companies world-wide, did a lot of partnerships, did many other things. At the end of the day, the revenue is same (or less) like others, bottom line is same (or bigger loss) like others.
I know it's early, industry is evolving, there are legal, regulatory and other challenges, it may require more time. But when you are the leader, you have $5b in your pocket; and you have Constellation on your side, your operation, your activities, your performance, should they not be different and better than others?
