RE:Fear of lost harvest this year

This fear extends beyond cannabis now, without crops we would have a major global food shortage. The media is going too far on these shutdowns especially considering that those over 70 are the highest ones at risk, who of course are not even in the work force.
I posted this earlier....
The death rate in Italy is a stunning 86% of those 70 years and older.
"The disease has taken the greatest toll on Italy's elderly population. Figures released Thursday by the Health Institute of Italy indicated that 86% of fatalities were among those aged over 70".
This is a shocking figure and until today it was hard to verify. I wish the media would be more responsible in their reporting and make this data more available. Not trying to infer the elderly are not important, in fact my parents are both frail in their late 80's so I am especially cautious about their safety. But, the media goes all out to sensationalize by continually flashing "new cases" and "new deaths" without getting into the details.
Another fact that the media ignores, here in N. America our population density is far less than Europe and China so by default we practise physical distancing. Of course, the big cities are at higher risk like New York, but in general we don't live on top of each other as in Europe and China.
Examining this website
the USA currently has (@10am on Mar23) more cases than Spain but 80% less fatalities. Why is the media not focussing on this data instead of just overall numbers?
This global shutdown has gone too far.
