RE:Don't give me the spin-off My take on this is quite the opposite. I am willing to "gamble" a bit with a drop in share price on May 5, but if that happens I think that will be nothing but a fluctuation which will correct itself shortly.
However, owning stock that in the future might give a NSR yearly, without having to do anything else but to sit back and relax, is something I want to at least have the chance to experience. With the amount of stocks I habe on hand (and thus will get) I know I surely will not be able to retire, but if everything goes to plan it has a real chance of becoming a not unsubstantial part of my FIRE plan.
I also see the spinout shares as a sort of hedge fund, should world economy head down the drain for a couple of years or more (we all see the signs, do we not?). They are not physical gold, but they will do almost the same trick. Gold price going up (or rather currency plummeting) would mean more currency into my account.
I wish for you that you made the right decision, and for me that you did the wrong one... ;)
