RE:Cash & Debt situation I don't know about you, but I noticed almost all our vegtalbes we purchace these days are made or come from Canada.
As an aside, even larger Canadian commercial produce greenhouses either cut back or don't grow some produce (ie tomatoes) at all duringt he winter. It's too expensive to heat the facility - and there's not enough sunlight, although many have artificial lighting - the electric bill gets expensive as well.
But - larger growers who already have existing supply chains logistics with Costco, Walmarts, Sobey's etc will arrange supply agreements with growers in Mexico, for example. The produce is shipped to the Canadian facility - re-packaged (with a Product of Mexico label) and delivered to the grocer distribution centres. The term is 'brokerage' product - and turnaround can be surprisngly quick. There's also more direct competition from California growers.
So - less Canadian produce in the winter months, more Mexican and Covid has caused an increase demand, but it's an annual thing.
