RE:RE:Peter Thiel (Palantir)Sources suggest more so in the $20B valuation range for Palantir. At any rate, considering Marshall didn't even hesitate in picking Palantir as their biggest competitor, that to me suggests Palantir may be their ONLY real competitor in this space. I don't think DM is worth $1B right now, they just don't have the cash on hand or the consistent reoccurring revenue to support that valuation. I would put them in the $50 - $80M range as it stands right now imo.
HOWEVER, even just a couple more contracts like the one we just saw with SeeS, especially if one of those is with a US govt agency, combined with meaningful profit, then $100M valuation will be in the rear-view mirror very quickly.
If you aren't patient enough to wait 1yr to make 10x your money from these levels then this investment is not for you.

But nobody would sell it, except the price would be unbelievable good ($7 plus). Why $7 plus? Because PALANTIR is before IPO round about $40 billion worth. After IPO it will climb up fast. If Peter Thiel would try to buy DM, that would be the sign he think DM would be a very serious competitor. The price should equal that. He would get DM under some billions. I don't know. Just thinking loud. Anyhow DM is a great AI investment.

Of note was the 7 million shorts that appeared after the interview where Marshall mentions Palantir. Fast-forward to now and news is out about Palantir potentially going public with an IPO. Can't help but wonder...
I hope this person doesn't mind me quoting them.

The worry I keep coming back to was when Gunther said their tech was comparable/competitive with Palantir. If that is true and Peter Thiel believes DM to be any kind of threat he is the kind of person who would be willing to spend tens of millions of dollars and possibly more destroying DM. It sounds *ing crazy but it's in his playbook." from #dm,
