I choose to agree with the idea that this is the work of a firm on behalf of a client who will attempt to aquire VIVO.  This is the prime explanation for the months of active control of the shareprice.  The effort being spent in boxing of the shareprice and setting up walls particularly around times of news excitement, is beyond the scope of short activity (only < 300,000 short shares prior to the Q2 news).
