RE:RE:TD Down This Afternoon

Actually, TD is blaming their outage on "an external interruption".

Can't recall ever seeing the Alternative Trading System (ATS) volume exceed that of the TSX like today. I actually would not have expected that a TD outage would have such a significant impact on TSX trade volume. These outages occur far too often. They gave strong assurances months ago that their server infrastructure had been vastly improved to help prevent further issues, so I'll be interested to hear what caused this one. Good thing it happened on a fairly slow Friday afternoon in the summer.
