Good question! There can be many reasons but lets not forget that they only discovered that rich mine when they went deep and only a few years ago. I would imagine that they are focused on getting what they have now than to look elsewhere and spending money. You could ask that same question about many other companies but it doesn't get much better than what KL already has. Also, Rex Motton knows what to look for!
