From what I understand, can certainly be wrong, NNO is licensing deal to use their patented process. With that patented process, using less material they can save ~ 20% of the costs. So the $1980 comes down to $1584. NNO will get anywhere between 3% and 5% in licencing fee. Using 4% they would receive ~$63.36 per battery.
500,000x63.36=$31,680,000 at about 80% profit margin.
