RE:RE:RE:CDNSteenaged girls are supposed to be starry eyed and concerned about the environment. they turn into bitter old bags until they get older and marry a loser like muttpatrollives, aka trevorjplows.

It's unfortunate that world leaders give people like Greta a platform, instead of telling her to shut the fcuk up, or even better, not responding at all. Again, I'm still waiting for her China/Rusia tour. I can't wait to see the look on Putin's face when she asks him "HOW DARE YOU"

1....Over the years..I have spent a considerable amount of time both for business and on vacation...especially after I retired. I have quite a few very close friends who are Americans and to top it all off....I even have to file US tax returns each year as well as Canadian tax returns (definition of a loser as my wife likes to say...lol). With that as background...I took issue with yoru statement that Canadians are like their American counterparts...there are some similarities for sure...but from my experience...there are many fundamental differences...without going into detail...Canadian culture and philosophy are quite different from that in the US.
2....your comment about Trump and then drawing a parallel to Trudeau IMO is misguided....Trudeau and his approach Government spending...Government Control....the environment etc..is more closely aligned with the Democratic party in the US...and more specifically..the left wing of that Party....not the Republican party which Trump is the leader.
3....That said...I do agree completely with the last part of your paragraph. In this regard I see the Green Movement and the associated societal controls that it involves....the amount of money required to meet the objectives....and especially the speed at which they want things done....to have a parallel to what we saw in the 1st century AD when thousands of Christian zealots were crucified by the Romans and others....these people were prepared to die for their beliefs and didn't care about the consquences. The people involved in the Green Movement are modern day zealots and want what they want...as quickly as possible with no regard to the consequences and are not prepared to listen to any other point of view.
4....Yes... there is no doubt that we need to address the changing world climate which IMO is a natural consequence of there simply being more people on the earth compounded by the poorer people on earth achieving a higher standard of living and wanting the same things as rich people whose life style creates a higher level of pollution than poorer societies. The issue is...as you clearly point out...is to find a pace for the change that makes sense and doesn't destroy the actual thing that you are trying to save. Zealots don't see it that way...they are blinded by their beliefs and sadly right now I see that the momentum is on their side and rationale thought outside of this these core beliefs is being shouted down...or worse....sanctioned/censored by social media like Facebook...Twitter...Google...and Instagram.
