That's not to say that we haven't "stumbled" into some big returns. For example, we made big dough from:
- a number of take-overs (AAR.UN, ECI, ENF, VNR, DRG.UN, NVU.UN)
- completely selling a stock for various reasons (MIC, FN, REI.UN, PKI, BEP.UN)
- trimming a stock (NPI)
We're also sitting on some really big "paper gains" (AQN, BCE, BIP.UN,EMA, NPI, DIR.UN,GRT.UN, RY).
So as some posters have conjectured, no we did not win a lottery. We made our riches by good old fashioned wise investing. As I said, we have made what some people woud call "mistakes". I like to call them "learning experiences".
Our strategy of 100% TSX listed dividend incom/growth stocks without any direct foreigh exposure nor fixed income certainly isn;t for everyone but we are pleased as punch with it.
I think the main thing is for an investor to develop a strategy, tweak it as necessary, and stick with it.
Happy New Year and all the vest in 2021.
