RE:RE:RE:RE:Translink selected NovaBus, not Grande West

RE:RE:RE:RE:Translink selected NovaBus, not Grande WestPerhaps GWT execs should have included a full-size model that can compete with other companies producing full-sized EV buses? Why exclude yourself from what comprises the majority of transit vehicles? I've never seen a 25' bus in any city I've visited, well, 25' double-decker, but not a short bus. Perhaps they are used for shorter, suburban routes? I have my doubts.

How much energy savings is there for a shorter bus than a full sized bus, in terms of cost, charging, and maintenance? I see this as a smaller municipality option, not nearly suitable for a decent-sized city.

Edmonton ordered 19 more Proterra buses, which brings that total to 40. All full-sized. Proterra buses have been shown to be able to travel further than any other EV on a single charge. Proterra also entered into partnerships to manufacture the charging systems, specifically designed for their buses. Does GWT produce the charging station, or is that a separate purchase that must be taken into consideration?

The Proterra buses are vastly superior, they contain two electric motors, outperform other EV transit vehicles by up to 72%, due to superior horsepower and mileage per charge.

As I've stated before I see GWT as a second-tier EV transit option. They will fill a void when demand outstrips supply, or for niche opportunities, such as large campuses, military bases, small cities.

We'll see how things unfold over the next 6 months.
