That is exactly why I place Europe so high in ranking. It reacts slower to modern trends, but it is a leader in environmental progress now, so joining EV revolution ,is at this point, is a natural step.
Not sure what (and most important when) you drove US cars, but Ford learned really well. Just check quality ranking. My previous car was Ford and I will second motion it. Car before that was GM, what a difference...

Hurting my brain trying to remember :-)
The worst that comes to mind was (surprise) a KIA sportage (OK, that one doesn't count) ;-)
Chevrolet Captiva comes second place.
The rest has gone.
Maybe driving in the States was part of the experience as well. The way schoolbusses are treated by drivers. You will not hear me speak agains safety on the roads, but that was extremely hard to get used to. I learned, was forced to learn, by reactions of fellow road users.
Luckily never was fined. I probably would not have known how to deal with officers either. We Dutch are an argumentative lot.
Crossing pedestrians was another one. Man can they give you dirty looks when you pass them by a bit too close for their comfort.
American friends hate the European roundabouts, that's something incomprehensible to us. I remember this intersection in Worcester where 8 roads come together at all kinds of different angles. I sure pissed of some drivers with my indecisive behaviour.
As in another board (maybe CEO.CA LI page): "To each his own".
So maybe the driving experience influence my opinion of the cars.
My apologies ;-)
Have fun.
