If you have, let's say 1000 shares, and the sp is at 4.30 and you put your stop loss at 4.20. Than it will sale to the next buyer, let's say the next buyer, wants 500 shares at 4.15, than 500 of your shares will go to that buyer. Your other 500 shares will go to the next buyer, let's say at 4.13 is another buyer and wants only 200 shares, than 200 of your shares will be sold to him. Than your other 300 shares goes to the next buyer, let's say at 4.05, and the buyer wants 1000 shares, than your 300 shares goes to that buyer. And that buyer waits for his other 700 shares that he wants, until his order gets filled.
