RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:Onwards and UpwardsThe SX-EW is conventional. The copper on the cathodes grows through electrolysis and then periodically the copper cathodes (sheets) are harvested, typically every 30 days. Excelsior announced the first harvest on 21 Dec and the first sale on 28 Jan. It makes sense they had a second harvest in late Jan which was combined with the first harvest in Dec and was sold. The combined harvest was 90,000lbs of copper. What matters is the wellfield flowrate and PLS grade, not whether an individual well is above or below expectations. The copper mineralogy at Gunnisson and Florence is both chrysocolla. Refer to the technical studies for both projects. Acid breakthrough and rampup for both projects is slow. No problems when the copper price is getting stronger and the majority of funding was with a stream. Excelsior and Florence are both great projects. There are some differences but fundamentally they are the same (copper in the form of chrysocolla on the fracture surfaces of an intensely fractured rock under the water table). Read the technical reports. There are some differences in the host rock and hence the acid reacts differently with the gangue. This is temporary and with time will ameliorate. What a great time to be ramping up production as breakeven production has got much lower thanks to the copper price. The world is desperately short of new copper discoveries and demand is very strong and growing. I have no doubt we will see $5/lb copper.
