Bankable Feasibility Study (BFS) or Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS)
A Bankable Feasibility Study (BFS) is the final piece of the financing puzzle. The results of the study serve as the basis for a final decision whether to proceed with the mine plans. It would be unusual for a company to get finance in place without one.
Companies in the development stage already have a fairly accurate idea of the size, grade and abundance of the resource - meaning that there is more data to analyse and less risk. Economic assessments and feasibility studies are similar to NI 43-101 reports in that they are held to high standards. Investors can be more confident that these companies will move towards the production stage.
