RE:RE:RE:Rio Tinto Plasma Torch Follow-Up6, the lines are independent.
20 years ago IOC was refurbishing the mothballed pellet plant in Sept-Iles. 2 grate kiln lines of 6 million tons each. That had been shutdown in the early 80's after the closure of Schefferville.
At the time, 2001, Rio had bought North's part of the company as part of a deal to get North's assets in Au. They weren't into concentrating and making pellets so they demolished the place after spending a couple of 100 million on refurbishing it ( project started by North ). They got tired of paying property taxes on a shut down plant. IOC is really a minow in RIO's assets, but it is profitable, pays dividends, and finances itself and when they tried to sell out about 5 years ago there were no takers at the $ RIO wanted. Now I think they have another opinion about the minow.
