RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:My take on NickelAgreed, but sadly Cuba asleep at the wheel as well - it's ruling clique unable to free itself from ideological entrenchment. Yes the US stance hasn't helped, but look at capitalist communist countries like Vietnam and how quickly they have reformed and succeeded from a much more disadvantaged starting point, not to mention China itself.... Cuba's economy is grossly inefficient and allocates capital atrociously and won't attract the investment or interest it needs until it reforms significantly. In our sector, it has massive Ni/Co reserves - top 6 in the world - but rather than be able to increase extraction at a key time like this, the national mine has seen a huge drop in output - just like that sugar cane article i sent. So yes Cuba needs to be treated fairly by the US etc but regardless of what the US does, Cuba needs to get its act together. Then we could with a partner or an investor become a truly big player (100,000 tons per year) in our market.

It would be a really bad look for Biden if the Chinese started investing in Cubas resource sector. Americans have been asleep at the wheel while China out maneuvers them in critical mineral supply chains.
