RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:Re ferret

RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:Re ferretI'm not sure Whognu is marking magic numbers, but it's a pretty well established investment strategy to wait for an established uptrend prior to putting money to work.  Plays are typically derisked to some degree by the time they move materially upwards from a low.  Many such as Buffet preach not to worry about catching the lows on a buy or highs on a sell, and to worry about the 80% inbetween.  The notion of 'if you'll love something at 7, you must love it even more at 4' might stand true for logic around big blue chips - take an AMZN sell off as an example.  When it comes to micro, or small caps, it doesn't stand up as well, given that small companies can and do go to 0.  The risk is extreme when compared to a sale price on an established large/mega cap.  While I didn't sell at 8 and am holding, I can only commend him for doing so, as I'm sure we all wish we did, if even to double our position at 4.  Like him, I will feel much more comfortable when we're back in the 6/7 range as I'm sure many here will.  The reason being, is that to get back there, we will have proven that we're in a much healthier place.  We will not revisit those levels for no reason at all.  We either earn it back, or we get used to our status.  I think we will figure it out, but I don't think I'll be feeling better until the winter at the earliest.
