RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:Successful Trade (Marner's Trade)Hey BB, long story short ...
I got paid double the div and some change. That's all. It's tax free since the holdings are in TFSA.
I think the stock will weaken in the short term but I want to see the instititutional reports first on Monday. I may even sell again my full position May 17 as I am a bit nervous about May 18. Really ... the mediation resumes May 18, Biden visits MI same day, and now as Marner shared with us we have Canadian institutions exiting.
Makes you wonder what's going on ...

Fantome or Marner61, is gonna help you out there....
silkos....pretty sure if you backtrack abit, you will read Marnier61 discussing tax rates of divis versus capital gains.....therefore, so as not to confuse
1HOT'S actions....she probably did not do this in a registered account.....as I see it.............of course, I stand to be corrected, if need be....balls in your court....lol
Keep your head up and your stick on the ice...lol...glta...hey you gotta buy back into enb.to or the whole deal don't work....right??
Fantome wrote: silkos wrote: Not sure about the others ... my trades were in my TFSA account. Have to admit that my exist strategy was @ $49 but it hit to soon and it threw me off. At $49.10 I was still unsure what to do.
Don't have time to watch music videos, they are getting noticed though. Good for you that you have the time. You should open a youtube channel :)
Hat off to 1Hot ... she was discpilined and executed superbly - like a pro!
About ENB ... not sure sure where it is going it going to $49 or $42. Two things are gonna be paramount:
- institutional reporting - any new interest?
- Biden visit to MI on May 18 ... undoubtly he will meet the governor ... there will be media invetrviews and L5 topic will be discussed for sure. if Biden thrrows support behind MI governor's ... the market will react and punish ENB
Backinblack1000 wrote: still you have to recognize the opportunity cost of the money....if it was invested in sona(?), for a couple of days.......then marner would have lost 8%(?)...ball park numbers....just saying....also assumptions were not stated.....maybe 1hot is doing this in a registered account??....a few assumptions made....like i said....leafs making the playoffs, doesn't mean winning the cup....and the 16% was 4 times...is best case scenario...jmho............
Like i say....1Hot...steak suppers for all!........
silkos....you can start a marner61 fan club if you want....also a trick...you do not have to listen to the youtube videos.....i realize not all can multi task...and i am cool with that.........gotta run...and glta...i guess we were assuming enb.to goes back up to $49 sometime soon??
silkos wrote: Hey BB I try to keep this about ENB.
I was just sharing my experience - did not say it was the greatest move of all times. The move generated more than double the div rate ... which I consider favourable.
And yes, I traded oil producers yesterday too. However, this is ENB board so I am trying to stay on topic.
Backinblack1000 wrote: So the money sits idle during this time out?? Is your assumption....and the totals is 16% if successful for the year??.....sorry, but coming from the oil producers section...kind of small potatos....imo....but to each their own..............good show 1 hot....and marnier61...nice to see you have shortened your posts....now you better buy back in soon...or your whole trade around the divi.....don't work................glta
silkos wrote: There are quite a few posts bashing Marner, complaining about speculations, long emails, trading ideas, conspiracies etc. Haters gonna hate, there is nothing you can do.
I'd rather read a long interesting email than a short paragraph followed by a you tube music video. That's just me.
This has to do with Marner's trade advice. I wanted to try so here it is.
I sold my ENB full position and forego the div. Reinvested the same amount from the sale to purchase ENB.
In the end it worked out at about double + the div rate.
This move is not for everyone ... but it worked this time around. You need access to funds or a margin account. It's quite stressful as you have to spend the day watching the market for both exit and re-entry points.
It was an interesting experience - Thanks Marner for sharing!
Yep...will be interesting to see how that plays out in terms of Line 5.....really will depend on which of his band of zealots he gets his talking points from....there is no doubt that a minimum will say some positive things to support Whitmer but IMO will fall far short of doing a "KXL" and saying he will stop the flow. If he were follish enough to do that then he will lose a lot more politically than he would gain from closing Line 5.
There were reasonable arguments that KXL wasn't needed....there are no such arguments for Line 5...not to mention the issues related to the Treaty WRT Canada
