Peruvian Election ResultsIn the past few hours, the Marxist leaning Socialist candidate Castillo has inched into the lead. Currently ahead by a scant 25,000 votes, the "son of peasants teacher" has vowed to redistribute wealth from copper producers to the less fortunate. While the election is far from over, it's somewhat surprising that copper prices aren't up today. One thing for certain is that the next few days are going to be a hot mess in Peru whilst they sort this out. If Castillo does end up being the winner, copper prices are bound to stay elevated. However, I suspect the "powers that be" will be plying their trade to ensure the ultimate victory goes to the other side. Interesting stuff to watch play out.
