TAAT only owns it to the extent they're willing to pay to defend it.
Excellent post tdon1229. Most of the people who come to this board have no idea what you are talking about.
I saw a similar situation years ago where a small start up company invented a new electrical wiring related product to be used in the construction sector. They had a patent. They also had a large competitor who just ignored the patent and started selling a copycat product.
The small company sued for patent infringement but the large company flooded the market with their own product through their own marketing channels. Sales for the small company collapsed and the legal costs drove the small company into bankruptcy. If anybody thinks Phillip Morris and other BT companies are going to sit idly by while a startup company captures significant market share without a fight you are going to be in for a big shock.
I would not be surprised to learn that BT already has a competitive product they are quietly test marketing. Even if a BT product is not "as good" it could still damage TAAT with their marketing prowess. That is the way things work in the real world of business where huge sums of "profit" are at stake and the competition can become ruthless and downright nasty but you can be sure they will be legally untouchable without recourse. It's just business.
Do what you wish but what if my opinion becomes true?
