https://www.azfamily.com/weather/phoenix-weather-forecast/article_df82062c-babc-11e8-879a-9f6cca0a5124.html Good Thursday morning! The monsoon is ramping up again today across Arizona, and more storms are expected.
As a weather disturbance approaches from New Mexico, storms are likely to increase from east to west today across Arizona. Morning storms in the White Mountains moving east could hold together enough to bring a bit of rain to the Valley this morning, but thunderstorms in the Valley are more likely this afternoon and evening. We'll look for outflows from nearby storms to collide and generate storms over the Valley later today, bringing strong gusty winds, thunder, lightning, and rain. There's a 20% storm chance for the Valley this afternoon and a 40% chance tonight. Look for an afternoon high today of 102 degrees.
Storm chances increase again tomorrow across the state, as it's expected to be an active monsoon day. For the Valley, that means a high temperature of only 100 degrees and a 40% chance of storms throughout the day and night. Strong, damaging winds and heavy rainfall are the biggest threats.
On Saturday, storm chances continue. By Sunday, we should begin drying out with only slight storm chances for the Valley. Drier air will begin working into the state, and storms will be more limited to the higher elevations by the start of next week.
