Vermilion has an excellent opportunity for an experienced, skillful and dynamic production accountant.  Based in Calgary, this permanent position will report to the Supervisor, Production Accounting.  This is an exciting opportunity for a production accountant looking to expand their skillset by learning revenue accounting for Vermilion’s Wyoming assets while also continuing to develop their Canadian production accounting skills by supporting Vermilion’s Canadian production accounting teams. This role requires strong analytical skills with attention to detail.    
 
 
Key Responsibilities
 
 
US revenue accounting
 
Processing of revenue including coordination of payments to revenue and royalty owners through the usage of Excel spreadsheets and P2 BOLO software
Monthly and annual reporting to the State of Wyoming and the Office of Natural Resources Revenue
Annual 1099 reporting for revenue and royalty owners
 
Other production accounting tasks as assigned by the Supervisor, Production Accountant depending upon the skillset of the candidate. Tasks may include:
 
 
Full cycle production and revenue accounting for Alberta/Saskatchewan Operated and Non-Operated properties
Setup and maintenance of master data in Metrix including new wells, contracts, royalties, and fees
Monthly review and reconciliation of accounts receivable
Assist with reviewing and processing amendments
Third party processing fees billing
Respond to government, royalty, partner and internal stakeholders queries
Review, investigate and resolve front-end Metrix system errors or issues
Assist in external audit queries related to production, royalties, revenue and transportation
Provide mentorship and guidance to other production accountants
Generate and analyze reports from Optix and other reporting tools for various stakeholders and purposes
Identify and implement process optimizations
Attend Metrix user-group sessions and participate in other forums to ensure Vermilion is using Metrix to its full capability
Maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Other duties and special projects as required
      
 
Essential Experience & Skills
 
 
Minimum 10+ years of oil and gas production accounting experience
Knowledge of US revenue accounting is an asset but is not a requirement
Proficient knowledge of the Metrix production accounting system including set up and maintenance of marketing arrangements, royalties calculations, facility charges, etc.
Solid Microsoft Excel skills with prior experience leveraging these skills to improve processes and efficiencies
Working knowledge of Qbyte FM, CS Explorer, Prodview, Energylink, PAS and Microsoft Office would be an asset
Demonstrated history of leveraging analytical skills to develop reports and analyses using a variety of tools for different purposes and stakeholders
Strong interpersonal skills with a team-player perspective and the ability to build relationships and work constructively with others to achieve business goals
Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in a rapidly changing business environment
 
Education
 
 
CAPPA certification preferred
Degree or diploma in Accounting or Business is an asset
