Growth vs DividendIMO.....
It would be in Suncor's best interest to increase the dividend. This is what will get institutions, pensions and the ordinary retailer to buy the stock. With the world starving for yeild because they can't get it on the bond side, an increase in the dividend (part of the restore back to what it was) will dramatically increase the share price. As long as oil stays in the $70's and companies are printing FCF, we are good to go.
If they turn around and try to grow, (drill baby drill), they will probably get punished and the share price will be driven down.
As long as the demand is there and the supply is not (lack of investment in Capex), we stay hot. This is what it is all about for now. We have lots of oil and more and more of it will get to the US at better prices and soon, just maybe....out to Asia.
Another note is with the tremendous amount of debt the US has, along with the supply crises that the world is experiencing, inflation is increasing and this poses problems.
We may see the Fed have to adjust it's buyback program or raise rates earlier.
This could create a nice pullback or heck even a crash. Hard to say but it is going to be a very rocky road......
