The solution I see  is drop the stock buy backs,increase the dividends, substantially reduce costs within the company and reduce debt. Don't buy any other assets companies etc. deplete the long term reserves and return cash to shareholders. Evaluate the major divisions and as appropriate spin them off as separate companies or sell them if practicable. Distribute shares, cash or both to shareholders.
Result is you attract yield investors back, ESG is never going to be onside so forget them. Waste of time and money. 

With this new mindset I believe financial investors will return, it's simple understandable and not driven by ego. Result 30+ years of much happier albeit fewer employees, bondholder, and stockholders
