RE:RE:DeadsvilleIt's true they cut ice blocks from little lake but not for excitement.Right behind where I live by the tracks there was a big ice house.It was demolished before I moved here in 1981 but I'm told it was a massive building.They would cut blocks of ice (by hand) in winter,load them onto a horse drawn sleigh and bring them to the ice house where they would be covered in sawdust to keep them from melting.Then in the summer the ice was used for the railcars that carried meat and produce.They didn't have refrigerated railcars back then.The main reason why all the towns along the railway are where they are was because they had to have water accessible every 100 miles or so for the steam engines.It's a long story.Cheers
