RE:RE:STILL A MASSIVE 21.5+ MILLION SHARES SHORTS!!!
There's no time limit when shorting, basically you're betting a stock will drop, eg, you short BTE at $4.19, then it goes down to say $3.00, then you're up $1.19 so you want to take your profit and cover. It could keep going down then you hang on for more. On the other hand, if you short BTE at $4.19 then it rises to $6.00, you're losing $1.81 per share so the higher it goes the more you lose and will probably get a call from the financial institution you deal with to cover the loses or they will cover it for you and you're on the hook. It's a dangerous game to short, usually the big boys, hedge funds with lots of cash are the ones that can capitalize and sometimes they get burnt too just like they did recently with nat gas futures. Hope this answers your question.
