Nova Leap Health - You will find the future in these numbers

Nova Leap Health - You will find the future in these numbers

90%:

"According to the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), 90% of seniors want to stay in their homes as they age. Even for those requiring day-to-day assistance or ongoing health care, 82% still prefer to live at home on a regular basis.

Those numbers speak volumes, and there so many reasons why sticking close to home is a valid option for seniors.

Being home brings with it a sense of familiarity. We all feel more secure being comfortable with our surroundings and, for seniors, that sense of comfort is no different. According to the AARP, “Consistency and familiarity are both key to ensuring happiness in our parents’ lives.”

That sense of familiarity also helps with anxiety seniors may feel about the future. In addition, the AARP says that allowing a parent to stay in their home lessens tensions regarding parent-child role reversals.

'When your parent is living at home, they are less likely to stray or become unhappy because they have chosen to stay home,' the AARP added."

$50,000:

"And then there are finances, arguably one of the most significant reasons for staying at home as a senior. The AARP states that the average cost of a nursing home or assisted living facility can be more than $50,000 a year. And those numbers continue to climb."

4%:

"It was reported that only 4% of the elderly people preferred to move into a relatives’ home over staying in their home surroundings."

47%, 58%:

"Planning for future care needs should be on everyone’s “to-do” list. 47% of men and 58% of woman in the US who are at or above retirement age will experience a need for long-term care in the future."

75%:

”World Alzheimer Report 2021": ”75% of people with dementia globally are undiagnosed, equating to 41 million people”

”A lack of education about a dementia diagnosis will have a significant impact on the quality of care as well as safety of the individual and their carer(s)”
