This we do know: BKM was dealt a very bad blow in its 2012 application as a result of political meddling in its EAO application even thought the government acknowledged all engineering evidence indicated no material adverse effects on the environment.The LBN had also turned against BKM (for reasons not declared). Courts agreed BKM did not get fair application in 2014. In 2015, the Liberal gov said there needed to further assessment. In the last 6 years the EAO and BKM could not agree what should be further assessed. We have a new NDP government. They have substantially changed the rules of the game. They also have a collaboration agreement with LBN with huge incentives for LBN (including sharing of tax revenue) to have a more cooperative spirit. The Former Green Party leader made an impressive plea (twice) in the legislature last year for the wrong committed by the previous government against BKM to be made right by the current government and to grant the necessary permit to BKM. That MLA (Weaver-now retired) is well respected by the government ministers responsible for issuance of the permit. That MLA had no political interest in helping BKM other than the fact he recognized how wrongly the previous government and administration had treated BKM. He very forcefully pleaded BKM's case. It is now in the Environment Minister's hands to do as he sees fit with no EAO recommendation. So, if BKM management has done its job, it has completed its homework, assessed the risks and made an assessment that they have a compelling argument such that the Minister will say "YES" to the permit. Essentially, we are trusting that BKM Board and Management know what they are doing here. They have been on this pathway for over 20 years! Can you fathom that? That is almost a full generation. I have made a calculated risk that we have a good chance of success and, like Salmon and many others, have hung in there for a very long time as a shareholder. Come the end of January, I will be either a genius investor or a fool... And perhaps have some good company...
