EV strength is in the urban setting, (1) regenerative braking (2) zero energy use while stopping for red lights (3) lots of charging stations so long range is not essential.  Weakenss of EV on highway is due to no gearing, so high speed require high rpm spinning of motor. In the current cold spells, EV battery loses alot of capacity (range).  In hot climate, EV battery need auxillary cooling.  My negative view on EV is mostly related to high energy and environmental cost to dispose or recyle the electronic components and battery. 

 

Experienced wrote: While I was out for a hike, I asked myself a dumb question.  If I am on the highway in an EV going fast do I get less range than in the city going slower?
