Tesla's 4680 Battery and Silicon Demand

Tesla's 4680 Battery and Silicon DemandSome great posts from @cargo from ceo.ca on Tesla's 4680 battery and silicon requirements/demand:

@cargo Tesla 4680 battery is about to bring a surge in demand for silicon-based anodes. Graphite will no longer be needed in the new 4680:) $HPQ "The demand for 4680 battery production in 2022 is about 75GWh, and the demand for 4680 battery production in 2030 is about 3160GWh (3.16TWh), an increase of about 4113% over 2022." Those numbers are just mind boggling. Also I find it interesting that Tesla is incorporating metallurgic grade silicon possibly mixed with carbon in the future. https://min.news/en/auto/14b12bc27768f4bd7639b5659f97627d.html

@cargo Tesla will require a boat load of silicon for many years to come. In the article below states that Tesla has tried for a few years now to try and cost control the most expensive part of the EV's. This in my opinion will be very difficult to do unless they can control the material cost something $HPQ will be able to do, also Panasonic spending $705M bucks on production facilities to produce the 4680 tesla battery bring more validation that the demand for silicon will only grow. https://www.teslarati.com/panasonic-tesla-4680-electric-vehicle-battery-production-investment/

@cargo If that prediction of 3160GWh comes to fruition Tesla will require 2,370,000 tons of silicon carbon anode materials in 2030. Crazy numbers indeed.

Long and Strong in PyroGenesis and HPQ Silicon!
