Artis Real Estate Investment Trust is an unincorporated closed-end REIT based in Canada. Artis REIT's portfolio comprises properties located in Central and Western Canada and select markets throughout the United States, including regions such as Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario, Saskatchewan, Arizona, Minnesota, Colorado, New York, and Wisconsin. The properties are divided into three categories: office, retail, and industrial. Yep it's the special dividend they didn't. I had three of them in my account for different stocks this yearZ. Basically they dumped a bunch of capita gains tax on you to pay. But then they increased the acb so you'll have less capital gains tax to pay when you sell. It's a way to offload tax from the company to shareholders, who mostly hold it in tax sheltered accounts and won't be affected.
