Thank you to Baywolf, Red, Topdown and many others.

Thank you to Baywolf, Red, Topdown and many others. As a former oil worker(70s and 80s), I have worked many of the oil fields in the North Sea, and Middle East, and I can tell you that the content you guys bring is first rate. Nothing matters...........not so much.
Thank you Topdown for mentioning hydrogen embrittlement, it's a process whereby hydrogen gets sucked into the metallic structure and begins picking off the carbon atoms that were placed there by the anealing process to make the steal less brittle. What we basically have is a hydro carbon recombination process.......actually rendering the steel useless and actually creating hydro carbon in the process......we encountered high H2S levels in several of the fields in the Middle East, and I can tell you it's a double whammy, not only is carbon being stripped, but acids are also formed as a result. Thank you for bringing back old memories ;)
Sometimes I wish those that actually spout "science" all the time had actually paid attention to science class.........perhaps it didn't matter, or maybe people like nothing matters has an over abundance of hydrogen on the brain.

I shall stop posting here, but wanted to thank so many here for wonderful content.
Best
