What people need to get their heads around is that a lot of future Au production is going to come from bulk mineable Cu-Au deposits. Have a look at what Lundin Group companies have been doing in South America as an example.
Economics of scale and technology advances allow the for the mining of increasingly lower grades. That will continue into the future. Mining companies need to focus on being consistently profitable. Some are stupidly profitable but the market grossly undervalues them (BTO is a great example). Great margins, no debt, huge cash pile and the market goes meh.
