Maybe there's a machiavellian plan behind all this but everybody should remember that conspiracy theories are just that, theories, 99% of the time.

Consolidation doesn't make the buy back easier for employee incentives but this drop certainly does.  

The options/rights now on the books, though, makes the exercise of same put further down the road.
  
 There is no way that the company did not know what the initial reaction would be once this consolidation was formally announced.

What is the next step is really the one to watch. 
The retraction of the share price recently did not happen in a vaccum as it accelerated as they got closer to the exercise of the RS.
