DRIFTWOOD MAGNESIUM PRESS EXCERPT -
Driftwood Magnesium Plant
The Company has begun the quotation process for the acquisition of magnesium metal processing equipment. A confidential prior study by Hatch Consulting (Canada) for MGX, identified a potentially profitable price of magnesium metal based on prior exploration and engineering work at its Driftwood Magnesium deposit. Recently, magnesium metal has entered this range. As a result, the Company has issued a request for quotation for up to 16,000 tonnes Mg metal processing equipment and expects an understanding of capital requirements shortly.
Question -
Should the processing equiptment ( extraction mine model ) consider a hydroxide phase to create an additional energy phase in which to incorporate this extra energy to run the processing plant - seems many green energy projects are consiencious of, co2 emissions. Sourcing the power appears to be of greatr importance and how the power is generated - minus co2 production.
What heappens to Magnesium in salt water ?
Creates a magnesium hydroxide.
AND.... as a bonus.... hydrogen gas is produced.
What happens when magnesium reacts with salt water?
On this side, the water reacts with the magnesium and creates hydrogen ions (protons) and magnesium hydroxide and generates two free electrons
Question becomes -
is magnesium hydroxide still desirable as an end product.
Or, dehydrate the magnesium from it's water and repeat the process over and over to produce hydrogen gas - near indefinitly - this process could spell - far less ores needed to be mined when compared to producing magnesium metal alloy, thus depleting the resource all the quicker.
Could Canada - Should Canada
implement various forms of hydrogen production ?
When considering using ( salt base mettaloids ) as a reactant - such requires no added energy or heat to initiate. Puts a whole new spin on, creating energy with least amount of energy needed. .
Though this article mentions using Silicon - magnesium works the same way to produce hydrogen gas.

Like any good mining project, it';s all about producing with the least amount of monies and maximizing the profits.
Cheers....
