Note that the US approach in the link below deals with where the processing of minerals occurs, not mining, and then where the battery cathode and battery manufacturing occurs. It's wise and my take is that they are well informed. Cuba to Fort Saskatchewan to Germany to Loyalist Township Ontario to any number of US States. Just for context. I could be wrong though. Again, think in terms of the Harvalyta nickel refinery. Is it Russian nickel or Finnish nickel.

Also some discussion/comments regarding Indonesia. Just want to point out a couple thoughts that come to mind because nickel was likely on our Prime Ministers agenda this week while he was overseas. Some nickel mining and perhaps more importantly, quality processing operations in Indonesia are still marketed and sold out of a certain office in Toronto.

Federal trade data/stats is available on line and my guess is that imports of nickel concentrate for smelting and then through a certain nickel carbonyl powder process is just around the corner.
