idlefreebird wrote: endzone , lots of new technologies out there ...I was a control room operator for my last 8 years for Glencores copper smelter and the system pretty well ran itself..had 24 monitors and ran 4 plants ..including a 3 furnace gavity fed system ..Smelting, settling and converting...concentrate was 23% copper after smelting the settling furnace that was heated by threee large electodes came out as a 68 % matte and then the converting furnace end product was 99% copper blister that was transferred to thr Anode furnaces to be oxidized and reduced with amonia to then be casted ,cut then shipped to refinery wich refined to 100% product ... major operation....now they just have the concentrator all else was removed...but the land is there with all the infrastructure and would be welcoming to a stainless steel plant...The metsite was the second choice for Noront to build a Chromite smelting facility wich the Sault ST-Marie won ...but it could change with Noront being bough out ...glta
