Fleetwise is too complicated for the average Joe to compreheBlackBerry IVY ( BlackBerry and Amazon partnership) was built to make the car sensor data available in the cloud. The plan was to make it available to the car manufacturers... the car manufacturers owned the data...
IVY is Cloud agnostics and can run on any cloud platform.
The next step is for applications to be built on the data that is being made available on the cloud. This would normally be expected of the car manufacturers or third-party companies who have been authorized by the car manufacturer to build the applications.
However until the car manufacturers figure out all the details, IVY will not know what are all the requirements the car manufacturers would expect to monetize as applications on the cloud.... this is where Fleetwise comes in, Amazon teamed up with a few car manufacturers to figure out their requirements and build cloud products specific to AWS, it is a win, win for everyone.... IVY now gets more focus on what the manufacturer demands are and gets fine tuned as a Cloud agnostics product, and the more customers that Amazon signs up for Fleetwise more business for IVY.
If not for Fleetwise, IVY would not be a finished product when released in May... unless IVY had multiple sign-ups from car manufacturers, but that would not have happened in a short period of time. Now it has been expedited by Fleetwise building the final products for the car manufacturers....
This whole thing would be too complicated for the average Joe posting on Stackhouse or Stocktwits...
