Artis Real Estate Investment Trust is an unincorporated closed-end REIT based in Canada. Artis REIT's portfolio comprises properties located in Central and Western Canada and select markets throughout the United States, including regions such as Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario, Saskatchewan, Arizona, Minnesota, Colorado, New York, and Wisconsin. The properties are divided into three categories: office, retail, and industrial. The industrial properties account for most of the portfolio, followed by the office properties and the retail properties.

RE:Does the market hate...sure the market hates the industry broadly - dosn't explain specific AX weakness. i believe the market hates the industry because the industry is asset intensive with lots of debt. biggest company-specific issue has always been the debt. sure dosn't help that the unique element of AX and Manji is the deal making - which based on Cominar, and less so FCR and Dream Office - has been horrible and would not warrant any value imho - may actually add risk given the negative past performance and reduce value on of the entity as a whole on a risk adjusted basis. i don't think market dislikes the location of assets, but certainly dosn't appreciate US exposure as much as I do (H&R and Artis)...
