There is a growing realization that renewables such as wind and solar have their own serious negative environmental issues. There is already a lobby established to stop offshore wind on the East Coast of the US and growing opposition to solar farms in the American Southwest.
When you combine this with the high cost of electricity storage, there will be growing demand for natural gas and LNG. ENB, to their credit, is continuing to reposition itself in this area with this recent acquisition from Dominion.
