The problem is not in crunching numbers, its in believing numbers. Nowhere in the textbook does it mention that you should doubt the numbers. If there is doubt, the slide rule doesn't work, the model is bogus, the stock goes down, putting the corporation into a severe position of weakness in any negotiations. It feeds on itself, and it begins and ends with credibility.
