RE:RE:OUCH WILL EVs BE A BLIP IN HISTORY?Great commentary, I appreciate it. The embargo does impact Cuba and their people in many ways perhaps not so obvious to all. That's why they suffer economically. The USA's noose around the island chokes their people to force regime change.
That's why analysts don't give Sherritt any coverage either. I belive the term used to describe Sherritt and Cuba was Political instability. I suggest no one covers Sherritt because of those reasons so the stock stays depressed.
In terms of Sherritt, the impact for them is when Cuba doesn't honour its contracts to pay Sherritt. This is why the Cobalt swap was such a big deal because Cuba had no money to pay Sherritt what it was owed as I understand it.
The other issue is the fact that Sherritt has to mine the ore, ship it to Canada, transport it by rail to Fort for processing then ship it again to their customers in Europe and Asia. Lots of additional expenses which cut the bottom line. Indonesia by contrast has a short hop skip and jump to Asia.
If the embargo was lifted, everything would be much better for Cuba and Sherritt. The biggest economy in the world, and growing, is 90 miles away. Whereas Europe and Asia, believe it or not, are in decline due to bad demographics. So Sherritt's customers are shrinking.
In the end, I hope we can make some money to cover the inflation cost and interest costs of holding Sherritt for so long. I truly believe that if the USA announces some sort of leniency toward Cuba, Sherritt stock will rise.
Appreciate the commentary. Civility should be commonplace. The exchange of opinions provides information and perspective to make better decisions based on realistic data.
