RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:Defence committee calls for open competition for spy jetsStock,

Thanks for confirming that you are in agreement with my post. You are making a very good point about asking for additional  requirements such as Canadian jobs, Canadian Suppliers, Canadian content, etc in the request for proposals from industry. I should have included these points in my post. These additional considerations make it even more surprising that the Canadian Government would consider awarding a contract directly to Boeing by eliminating all competition from Canda and abroad.

The most shocking fact to me is that Boeing's solution to replace the Long Range Patrol Aircraft (LRPA) is that it is nearing the end of their production line. This alone should be a major negative consideration when evaluating their bid, possibly enough to eliminate Boeing's proposal.

Obviouly, going with Boeing's solution would require buying upfront and storing every possible spare parts for the life of the new LRPA. Needless to say that we are talking about major additional procurement and warehousing costs.

I am somewhat surprised that P. Polievre has not yet raised this issue during the parlement question period.
