RE:RE:The more likely goal at Hertz

RE:RE:The more likely goal at HertzThere are two macro issues with EV's that some are starting to realize which tilts the playing field in favour of ICE.

First, clearly governments cannot keep spending the way they have been. My napkin is in 50 years, interest on the debt ($100T in Canada, $1 Quadrillion in the US?) even at 3% will exceed the entire government budget in real dollars. Well, EV's cost govts money in terms of subsidies, while ICE generates taxes.  Especially in Canada - the amount of money all levels of governments receive from oil and gas is huge.

Second, why are we (Canada and the US) promoting EVs? Doesnt' benefit us. We are a net exporter of oil and natural gas. between dry gas shale, oil sands, oil rich shale (and new tech and approaches continues to improve efficiency) and offshore, that may increase. Which means $$$ and influence for us.  The one that benefits the most from EVs is not us, its China ie batteries, BYD, etc..We are shooting ourselves in the foot with this EV business.
