Is a 25% No Response rate inevitable ?Our current trial results are excellent and should get us BTD, hopefully AA, and eventually full approval. Our interim results show a total response at any time of 75% (64% CR + 10% IR)
But why do 25% of patients show no response to the treatment? There must be a reason. Could different patients require a slightly different dose of light or photosensitizer? With some patients could there be cancer cells hidden under the surface or behind a stubborn tissue fold that either the photosensitizer or green light did not reach? Could the judicious use of deeper-penetrating red light along with green light help improve results in some cases?
Now is probably not the right time, but after approval, when Theralase has the money for more research and optimizations might it not be possible to whittle that 25% down so that a higher percentage of patients are completely cured of their disease?
