RE:What a SectorTo understand how Canadian transportation might change in the future, it is useful to look at how it changed in the past.
This is from 1930’s newspaper article.
The 90,000 visitors who attended the 1913 Toronto Motor Show were an early sign of the explosive growth to come
(From 1930’s) Early decisions influence subsequent choices. Choices made early in the adoption of the gasoline-powered automobile had a disproportionate influence on subsequent developments. So as we introduce new technologies we should think ahead about their potential social consequences. (today autos are here to stay, it is clean air and footprints of industry that are in question).
Road transportation changed virtually every aspect of Canadian society, and we should anticipate a similar scale of changes to occur as we confront transitions to sustainable mobility.
