For sure qwerty, there are probably multiple factors in th weakness in small resource companies. And sentiment may change and there may again be a time when there are potential share price gains for these small mining and energy companies, at least the ones that are doing well. But it is still important to consider how widespread the destruction of value has been and it is hard to fully understand it. It is important that the drop in share prices (and more importantly their inability to go up when appropriate discoveries or other milestones happen) causes its own challenges and further punishes the companies by making the capital markets totally inefficient in providing capital.  It just does not work if you have to sell more and more shares at a lower and lower price, even though you are totally on track. It is good to at least consider whether there are structural issues that contribute, like algorithmic trading in microcap companies that are exempt from short trading rules and not diligent about reporting failed short trades. At the very least a little more regulation and more transparency would be good.
